2016 Buddy Walk Fundraiser
The Willamette Valley Down Syndrome Association’s 20th Annual Buddy Walk® is on Sunday, September 25th, 2016, at the Riverfront Park in Salem.
The National Down Syndrome Society started The Buddy Walk in New York City and it has grown from 17 walks around the country in 1995 to more than 250 walks and 285,000 participants in 2011. The Goal of the Buddy Walk is to promote understanding and acceptance of people with Down Syndrome.
Our Music and Art theme this year lends itself to lots of exciting Activities and Games. We will have a Self-Advocate guest Speaker and our famous Buddy Walk around Riverfront Park, while promoting awareness for all people with Down syndrome.
The WVDSA is run by volunteers only so 100% of ALL the funds raised for the Buddy Walk, go to support the festivities of this year’s Buddy Walk along with other things including:
- National Education
- Training for Families
- New Parent Gifts and Family Support.
